We are nominating Dafydd Farr-Jones for his wonderful work as a volunteer fundraiser and campaigner for Beating Bowel Cancer. In 2009, aged just 26, Dafydd was diagnosed with bowel cancer. He contacted Beating Bowel Cancer for support, and despite going through his own difficult journey, he has been a tireless campaigner and fundraiser for the charity ever since. Dafydd began campaigning as a teenager when he launched his own anti-bullying campaign, which took him all around the world, speaking out about bullying and even appearing as a guest on the Oprah Winfrey Show! When he was diagnosed with bowel cancer, his focus shifted to raising awareness of the disease in younger people. Dafydd has told his story in the bowel cancer awareness film 'Cheeky Warning', climbed two of Britain's highest peaks, compered a fashion show at a bowel cancer patient event, has written to hundreds of celebrities and famous brands to secure items for five charity auctions on ebay, and is planning a bungee jump - all to raise money and awareness for Beating Bowel Cancer. Dafydd has done all of this despite only having recently recovered from bowel cancer, and despite being 6'7" with dodgy knees! Dafydd has inspired so many people over the years with his tireless campaigning, unparalleled energy, and drive to raise awareness of bowel cancer and its symptoms, and through his website www.wannadosomething.co.uk encourages others to volunteer too.
