Since his accident in 1992, the Olympic Games have played an important role in Cyril's life. Through disabled sports, he discovered self-transcendence and a drive for excellence. The Games have enabled him to discover the Olympic and Paralympic values and he has witnessed firsthand the strong sense of fraternity that is present during these global gatherings. In 2012, he won't participate as an athlete at the Games but as a former Paralympic athlete, he considers that it is his turn to give something back after all he has received from the Games. He believes that the Olympic Torch Relay would be the ideal occasion for him to promote the social dimension of sustainable development. It would embody his daily struggle to promote the diversity of able-bodied and disabled people, and the reconciliation of Olympic and Paralympic Games. Cyril motto for the Olympic Torch Relay is based on the idea that our differences make us stronger: One World, One Flame!
