Connor's nomination story

Connor represents the young Service people of the City of Plymouth: Her Majesty's Schools (HMS) Heroes. This is a self-help group of Service children aged 2-18, who look after each other and their families in time of need and, specifically, through the cycle of deployment. The delegate group, from local schools, meet monthly and represent around 1500 Plymouth youngsters who, collectively, support themselves and their families. The group are ambassadors for each other, across the city. They support civic events and the wider community, including the 70th anniversary of the Blitz, the Door of Unity Service with the USA, Armed Forces Week and the 2nd Tank Regiment return. Currently they are raising money for the 90th anniversary of the British Legion. Connor is the standard bearer. He learned the ropes in ten minutes and carries the standard with pride. It is unique in the country and is proudly paraded amongst Service and Legion standardsto show the commitment of this group of young people to each other and their community.
