Colin's nomination story

My nomination is my inspirational husband Colin. During our 22 years together he has dedicated all of his spare time to raising awareness and money in order to find a cure for type 1 Diabetes. He has been a type 1 himself for over 45 years, since the age of 8, yet this life threatening disease has never stopped him from living life to the full whilst always having the time and will to help others and is an unmatched example of humankind at it`s very best. He has not had an easy life. Diabetes complications robbed him of his eyesight for 2 years in his twenties yet he has battled on and been successful in work and everything that he has set his mind to. Colin has run 5 London Marathons for Charity and in doing so has raised huge amounts of money through exhaustive fundraising endeavours,. He is a schools speaker for children with Diabetes and puts himself forward every time when there is a need for volunteers for medical research. He has recently been accepted to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, again in support of Diabetes research, he also has applied for place on the English Channel swim relay team in 2012. As a proud, honourable and caring man, I know that Colin would be both honoured and humbled if successful in supporting the Torch campaign. He is a staunch Englishman and Britton, proud of his country and Heritage and is a true believer in the power of human spirit. He embodies all that is good in people and truly embraces the Olympic culture.
