Colin's nomination story

Colin has been volunteering for the British Red Cross for over 33 years. He is the most passionate humanitarian we have had the privilege to know. Colin has inspired many people to volunteer for the Red Cross. He leads the Emergency Response Team in Aberdeen which supports the emergency services during major incidents, he trains volunteers, undertakes first aid cover at public events, and supports volunteers to deliver excellent services. Many volunteers have said that if it were not for Colin they would not volunteer. Colin seeks no thanks nor favour for the voluntary work he does, his passion & commitment is very genuine. He is a wonderful exponent of charitable causes not just the Red Cross. Colin deserves the opportunity to carry the Olympic 2012 Torch through Aberdeen and would certainly see this as a privilege to be a part of a wonderful and memorable event. All this work that Colin undertakes is voluntary. His enthusiasm and knowledge is motivating and the volunteers he leads and supports have a huge amount of respect for him. This clearly shows in the success of the Emergency response Team. Colin and his family support and love the work of the Red Cross locally, nationally and internationally and it would be fantastic for society to recognise the work and contribution that Colin makes to the Red Cross - 'helping people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are'.
