I have been a leader since 1993 with Dunblane Boys Brigade and primarily deliver the Outdoor Education programme.
I providing support and mentoring to those undertaking Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Additionally I am the Stirling and District Coordinator (Regional Level) and an Accredited Expedition Assessor. I have supported the planning and supervision of expeditions and 'get fit' sessions to ensure they are carried out to prescribed standard.
Planned and supervised the annual Sponsored Hike (Glen Finglas) which is one of the main fund raising activities which provides funds to support the activities throughout the year. More importantly it is the opportunity for those new to the company section to enjoy the outdoors in a planned activity.
'Night Hike' for the senior team (also sponsored) which required meticulous planning and the right conditions. It was a resounding success and provided an opportunity to do some night navigation which is an important skill for those taking part in outdoor pursuits.
Skiing in the Cairngorms- Leading a team providing a weekend away (Fri-Sun) with 2 days skiing for the Senior section. Object of the weekend was to provide an introduction to the sport for beginners at minimal cost.
Organising and setting of the annual Stirling District Drill competition (marching) which saw the large number of participants (over 100).
Weekend hike an opportunity for those who have not spent a night 'under canvas' to learn new skills.
Teaching vaulting as a weekly class from beginner level to advanced and plan a routine for the end of year Display.
Leading and delivering the year long training programme for 6th year running for teams taking part in the Kilbryde Hike, a 30 mile hike over 2 days carrying all own equipment (teams consist of 3 participants).
