Clive Burrows

Clive has gifted over £100,000 to welfare, education and heritage charities in the past three years, some of which has helped to maintain the West Somerset Steam Railway. Clive has been a key member of the West Somerset railway since its opening in 1976. Beside capital gifts, he purchased two locomotives for the Railway and estimates they have generated over £200,000 of income since their purchase. Clive has allowed the Railway to keep the income, which helps ongoing running of the service. This is a voluntary facility that provides education and much enjoyment for the public. Clive has been a leading figure in the preservation of our engineering and transport heritage for 35 years. He has acted as a mentor/adviser to young people in gaining skills in the transport area. Clive is Chief Engineer for FirstGroup, where he also supports charitable woork that is not part of his application
