Clare's nomination story

Clare contracted meningitis when she was 17yrs, losing both legs, some fingers, and a brain injury to the cerebellum which has left her with a condition called downbeat nystagmus which covers balance and speech, she was in a coma for 6months....this happened 31march 2001, we were told she wouldn't survive. But 2005 after she was told she would never walk again, she walked London marathon in 19hrs 10min.....and in November 2005 she completed the new York marathon 12hrs 19mns, she has done great south run, many 5k and 10k all for charity, raising many thousands of pounds, she has also done assailing, parachute jumps, all for charity, she was able to do this with the aid of her step father as her eyes and for balance, as her braininjurey mean. She's dizzy 24/7, so she is unable to walk unaided as her eye sight is very bad, she also walked the foot hills of Cuba over 7 days again with the aid of her step dad for the Douglas Nader charity, clare next task is to do wing walking !!! She also did las Vegas marathon.......Clare was told she would never have children but has 2 beautiful daughters 2yrs and 9 months.....but this has damaged her health as she has blood clots on her lungs and has to take warfin and makes her legs bruise very easily...but she's determined to continue with her charity work this time with help from her daughters and partner chris as her eyes and balance as her step father has passed away. I know Clare would be very proud if she was lucky.
