I nominate Claire Chappill, my niece, to be a torchbearer, as I think she is an inspirational person who always tries her best in everything she does. She is only 18 but has already held the roles of Ambassador for Youth sport for the North Lincs area and also is an able sea cadet achieving many qualifications such as coxswain. At 16 having just completed her GCSEs she joined the group Treaderz , all men except for Claire, to complete a 450 mile sponsored bike ride in five days to raise money for a local school and Macmillans. She was also a peer mentor at school and did 20 hours voluntary work with the Red Cross. She achieved higher than expected results at college and has been given a place at York University studying nursing, all whilst working part time as a lifeguard at the local leisure centre.
