Claire's nomination story

Claire has been a Brownie Unit Leader for the last twenty years where she has tried to inspire and direct children from a mix of social backgrounds, where issues of families, schools and health have been left at the door so that they can flourish as individuals. She endlessly gives up her evenings and weekends to provide extra opportunities for those less fortunate, by raising money so that all of the children get equal opportunities. Claire is a born carer and believes that all children should be given the opportunity to thrive. No child is ever treated differently and many find her direction and steer gives them the confidence to cope with life at home or at school. During the week she works as a Matron with the Diabetes research team who strive to find the causes and cures for this disease that affects thousands within the UK. She also gives up her time to work with volunteers and look for volunteers, over and above anything that she is paid to do.
