Chris's nomination story

Chris Sheppard & his friend Adam Walker swam the straits of Gibraltar on July 5th 2011 swimming from Tarifa point in Spain to Cires point Morocco and back again They completed a 2 way swim the FIRST BRITS TO DO THIS and broke the British record for the one way swim Chris and Adam are both amateur swimmers aged 42 and 33. They have both swum the English channel as solo swims & in relays Chris was the fastest British time in 2008. They often swim in aid of Charities usually for cancer & the Gibraltar swim was for the Whales and Dolphin Conservation Society acting to protect against illegally whaling. It was the hardest swim they had ever had to do but rewarding experience to have dolphins swimming with them in their natural habitat They are still trying to raise money for this charity by public awareness due to the swim they were broadcast on Gibraltar Radio and local media.
