Chris Humphries is a hard-working Canon at Chester Cathedral who keeps fit by running around the city walls of Chester. In addition to his many roles in the community on behalf of the Cathedral, he also completed a sponsored run last autumn, raising £700 for the Mercian Regiment Benevolent Fund in support of soldiers returning from Afghanistan. He has also completed the 42 mile Lyke Wake walk across the North York Moors, and the Great North Run twice, all in aid of St Catherine's Hospice, Scarborough. Originally from Essex, Chris spent 26 years ministering in parishes across Yorkshire, before moving to Chester in 2005. Chris loves all sports and, at the age of 59, still plays for the Chester Diocese Clergy Cricket team. His son Michael persuaded him to enter for the Great North Run in 2003 and he is planning to enter again next year to celebrate his 60th birthday!
