Fitzy Fitzgerald

Born in 1959 he grew up on Roundshaw Estate Wallington and is still living there today. Everyone there knows him. He's never hesitated helping people. It maybe someone struggling with a bag, or spending weeks helping a stranger achieve a personal goal be it a 5k run to training for a marathon even HMS Forces by using his leadership skills which he gained whilst serving with the Parachute Regiment for 10 years during which he was deployed twice to N Ireland, UN Cyprus and the Falklands Conflict in 1982. During leave periods he took kids from the estate out on day trips with money he raised running marathons. In 1999 he set up a boxing club to keep local kids off the streets and to give them a positive focus. Over the years he's raised £1000's for charity completing Ironman, Marathons and many other sporting events! I don't know of anyone more deserving of this honour than Chris (Fitzy)
