Christopher is one half of the legendary skating partnership Torvill and Dean, who won gold at the Sarajevo 1984 Olympic Winter Games. Their free routine to Bolero achieved an all-perfect score and became world famous, capturing the British public and becoming one of the most memorable sporting achievements to date. Due to the Olympic Games rules once they turned professional they were ineligible to compete, until the rules were relaxed in 1993 and they returned to win a bronze medal at the 1994 Lillehammer Olympic Winter Games. Christopher retired in 1998, and remained largely out of the public eye until reunited with Jayne Torvill on hit TV show 'Dancing on Ice' in 2006. It has proved to be one of the most popular shows on British television and some would say it is responsible for the surge in popularity of ice skating as a participation sport.
