Christine Thomson

Christine is a gymnastic coach at the local Edinburgh Meadowbank Gymnastic Club. Christine coaches children from ages 4 through to teenagers to develop them in their gymnastic abilities. This includes supporting them at competitions and also when going through grading to attain standards. Organising team events ensuring her group are prepared mentally as well as technically for a competition or badge work. Giving up time a couple of nights a week plus at the weekend when competition or badge work is on. Christine is also aware of the abilities of each person in her group and understanding how to coach each individual child. Everyone responds differently to different instruction. It is the preparation and energy given to the sport that makes Christine stand out in the crowd.

Christine is an unsung hero, each week giving up many hours of her own personal time to help others succeed. Taking time to help others, even youngsters who will never be a gymnast but will benefit from some of the skills and drills the gymnasts have to do, always encouraging and bringing her own personal experiences of gymnastics to the front. Christine's passion for gymnastics can be summed up when she tells the youngsters 'It's you guys that keep me in this sport'. CR
