Christine's nomination story

As a volunteer for Girlguiding UK Christine has worked for 13 years with young people in the Bexley community. Girlguiding UK is the largest voluntary youth organisation for girls and young women in the UK with 500,000 members. One of Christine's current roles is co-ordinator of Senior Section members (aged 14-26) in London and South East England. In this role Christine has responsibility for ensuring all girls and young women in that age group are given the opportunity to develop and grow. Christine's past activities include arranging an aviation day at Shoreham Airport which gave the opportunity for 5 young women to take to the skies. Christine has developed an activity pack which challenges and stretches the Senior Section members and is trained as a peer educator. Future activities include a camp, which the young women themselves would be largely responsible for organising and arranging a celebration for the Senior Section's centenary. I believe Christine is an inspiration to the young people in her community and encourages them to aim high and achieve their potential. Her passion and enthusiasm as well as her endless ideas brush off on everyone she comes in to contact with and I believe she would be an ideal torch bearer.I'm not trained as a peer educator.
