Chris's nomination story

Chris Goodman is an inspiration for young people to get into, and stay in sport. She has contributed so much to the local area over a number of years, so much so that I don't even know where to begin. Chris has been teaching PE at Torpoint Community school for 30 years, for some of this time she has been head of PE & head of year.

She has worked tirelessly for the local community to gain the sports centre. The bid for the sports centre first was first started by Chris in 1995, and the centre was finally in opened on the 16th May 2006. Currently Chris is working with the local community, on getting a multi use games area to be built by the sports centre, to generate more space for sports. Chris runs the sports leaders awards, and after school she teaches Netball, Badminton & Tabletennis & is frequently a volunteer when events such as the Race For Life come to Plymouth, she has previously run the course but to to a replacment hip joint she is now unable to, but still wants to be involved with the event(s). All 3 of Chris' children have followed in her footsteps with regard to a career in sport & PE. This shows that she has had a positive effect on loads of children, including her own, and is a positive role model for many people, myself included. Chris deserves to be a torchbearer because she never gets recognition for the work that she has done for the community, but continues to work for the town of Torpoint regardless of this. It would be nice to give something back to her.
