My son Christian loves to cycle and last year he decided to ride a 100 mile charity bike ride (he had just turned 11 at the time) the ride took in over 2000m of climbing and ran through North Wales and Cheshire. This year (now 12) he completed the same ride, but was made an ambassador for the event by Clatterbridge Cancer Research to encourage other to take part. He finished the ride in just over 6 1/2 hours beating most of the adults (and me as well!!) and in the process raised over £850 for the Charity. The weather on the day was pretty bad and quite a few riders pulled out and took the shorter 50 mile route. He spent most of the ride on his own (I was wayyyy back!!) which is very hard mentally. He was one of the top 10 finishers out of over 100 riders taking part in the 100 ride route and many of his friends and family came out to cheer him on towards to end. Christian is a very active boy and spends most of his time outside, cycling, running and playing football with his mates.
