She has been a listening Samaritan for the past 10 years and was last year elected Chairperson of the Samaritans Correspondence branch. This is a dedicated branch which specialises in supporting callers by post . This type of support is very therapeutic for the caller giving them more time for thinking and reflection. She has organized and driven the Samaritan Freepost intiative to remove the barrier of postage cost from the Samaritan caller. She regularly donates around 20 hours per week to Samaritans even though she is also in full time employment. Last year she organised and completed the Hadrians wall sponsored walk to help fund the Freepost initiative, she completed the course in 7 days. Involvement in this torch bearing would be a very big thank you to her and also afford another much need publicity opportunity for her charity and specific branch.
