Charlotte Cox, 21 from Cambridge is a star of track, TV and cyber space! Charlotte is a bubbly high ability athlete. She has a large collection of Special Olympics medals including her latest addition of double Silver from Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens - 2011's largest sporting event with 180 countries and 7000 athletes. Charlotte was chosen out of all the athletes on the GB World Summer Games team to be the star of a video diary sponsored by Coca Cola. A film crew followed her before and during the Games with Charlotte as a presenter. Charlotte was honoured to meet Prime Minister David Cameron at 10 Downing Street along with a handful of other World Summer Games athletes, along with Darren Campbell MBE, Special Olympics President Lawrie McMenemy MBE, and London 2012 hopeful Beth Tweddle.
In 2010, Charlotte was the Cambridge & Coleridge Athletics Club Sports Performer of the Year, Sprinter of the Year and Living Sport Disability Sports Performer of the Year (2009 & 2010). She was also nominated for BBC Look East Disability Sports Performer of the Year (which she won in 2009). She also has numerous medals and awards from Disability Sport England and Mencap national competitions. She was just won the Cambridge News Community Award for young achiever of 2011. Charlotte comes from a large supportive family and she studies Animal Welfare full time at the College of West Anglia (she loves to look after her families chickens, cats and dog). She also skis well and rides. In 2008, she appeared as a TV extra with Charles Dance and Amelia Fox on the show Fallen Angels. CR
