Charlie was born with Severe Combined Deficincey (SCID) he was in and out of hospital as a baby, he became very sick, his only cure was a Bone Marrow Transplant. He had this when he was one and did very well starting school doing lots of sport, he loved cricket and became cricket captain at school. He did very well indeed but then at 13 years old was diagnosed with Secondary AML which involved more chemotherapy and also full body radiotherapy then a Stem Cell Transplant he spent many weeks in hospital and isolation. When he came out of hospital he was very weak and had lost lots of weight. He had to build himself up again, he started with walking and playing darts!! He then started playing Golf and has built himself up to now playing every weekend. He does all the sport at school (he attends a sports college) which he loves. He has done so well and being interested in sport has given him the encouragement to try harder and to push yourself into doing a bit more. I would love to nominate him because he would be an inspiration to lots of young people to try more sport. Thankyou. Jane Burden
