Charles is active in the Scouting movement and has been for many years. He undertakes fundraising tasks to enable his troupe to continue with their Scouting programme. He is leader of his troupe and encourages comradeship and teamwork by his commitment to the troupe and his leadership qualities. A strong role model for the young boys in his charge.
Charles and two friends entered a television quiz show and won a substantial sum of money to go towards his Scout troupe. This involved time and personal expense to reach the final stage of the competition but Charles was determined to do his best to win and so not let his troupe down. I think it would be a great way of rewarding Charles due to the hard work that he puts in every week for the children in his local community.
This would inspire the youngsters that he works with that they too can achieve great things in life if they approach school, secondary, college etc with a positive attitude and effort. He gives a lot of his spare time to work with the community group and I feel his efforts should be recognised. Charles gives freely of his time to work with boys who may otherwise not have a community group with which to become involved if he did not have such a strong commitment to the Scouting movement.
