Charlie's nomination story

My son Charlie loves sport. He is always running around and kicking a ball. He is kind, helpful and patient and always well behaved. He has struggled with academic work and has special needs at school. However, he enjoys any sport and always trys his best. Charlie has played on the school and local football team Ecclesall Juniors for several years. This year he received the Managers Player of the year and the Players Player of the year as voted by the team. He is a popular member of the team as he always gives the rest of the team encouragement. Charlie plays tennis twice each week at two local tennis clubs and also does athletics at the Institute of sport. He gained the most Outstanding Athlete at summer school and competes regularly in local fun runs. Charlie came fourth in the Lord Mayors Fun run and third in the Graves Park Easter Run. Charlie regulaly raises money for charity in these fun runs and competed recently in the Sheffield Great fun run. Charlie enjoys playing cricket and played for his school team last year that came second in a local schools competition.Charlie has played badminton for his school and has also competed in the English Schools chess semi finals in Prestatyn, Wales. In any other spare time Charlie has he enjoys playing golf and going swimming with his family. Charlie is very competitive and always strives to improve his performance. He would be very proud of representing Sheffield and Great Britain by carrying the Olympic torch.
