Catriona's nomination story

Every Tuesday night I help at the youth club with kids 5.30 - 8.30. This involves playing games with them, taking them to the park, selling them sweets, playing the Wii and doing arts and crafts. Every Wednesday I do the bingo. At the bingo I call the numbers sell books make teas and coffees, also set up the prizes. If I am off work I go shopping for the prizes. The ages for this varies from 5up to85. On Thursday I pop down to the centre to see the senior youth club and lend a hand in giving advice and guidance. I would say I attend about twice a month to this.

I also help out with fundraising events on the weekends. Most recently I helped out with a fun day for the senior youth club to allow them to go on a trip to M&D's. We sold rolls and coffees and teas with a mini raffle and tombola and on the day we raised just under £200. This was enough to cover the bus and also paid for some of the tickets. The reason we had a fundraiser was to ensure that the seniors actually done something for the money and not just got it given to them. We have one off occasions like burns night in January, Christmas lunches in December, fun days and a summer play scheme. I can't attend the summer play scheme as often as I would like due to my work commitments.
