For us, as two of Cath`s students, we feel she is a truly inspirational character and would love for her to get the recognition we think she rightfully deserves. Cath is a PE teacher and not only shares her enthusiasm for sports during lessons, but also puts a great deal of time and effort to offer opportunities for students during her own time. Although we understand that these are duties carried out by PE teachers all over the country, Cath goes beyond the average teacher and in addition puts so much energy into the challenge of running the Duke of Edinburgh Award at our school at gold, silver and bronze level. This is a huge task in itself and she not only delivers but excels in this, taking into account we had 56 students complete the bronze level alone last year. As well as being an inspirational person during school time, Cath devotes a huge amount of hard work into the local netball club volunteering as an umpire, chairperson, selector and often coach. Finally, Cath plays a vital role in the school community as well as beyond raising money for local charities, and funds for the school through evening balls and fĂȘtes to name but a few. Sometimes, it`s not what a person does, it`s how they act and support others and personally we feel that Cath is not only an inspiration for us as young people, but a role model for us and many others in the local community. The way she is always able to listen and give advice both on and off the court is invaluable and greatly appreciated.
