Cathy's nomination story

Cathy is a phenomenal nurse, doing a phenomenal job in a small corner of Scotland. As breast cancer nurse specialist in the Dumfries Royal Infirmary, Cathy knows every patient, whether diagnosed with early or incurable cancer, and sees them through their cancer journey, an incredibly vulnerable period of their lives. Cathy does her job exceptionally whilst maintaining great humility. Ever the patient advocate, she is the first person they turn to and regularly works beyond the call of duty. She is the linchpin of the oncology team and commands the respect and admiration of fellow professionals, patients and relatives alike. Here's one example of what they've said: '??..always professional, practical, cheerful, caring, encouraging and supportive, it was a pleasure to meet her in what were difficult, painful and worrying circumstances?..' It would be wonderful if these Olympic celebrations recognised this particular person doing an ordinary job in an extraordinary way.
