Carwen Richards is a year 13, head girl, at Lampeter Comprehensive School who is a very active individual in all walks of life. She mentors a group of Years 7-11 pupils at the School with the 'BBC School Report' project which works closely with the Olympic Games 2012.She is a person who enjoys working and learning about the cultures of other countries and she recently undertook a 25 day journey to Kenya where she acquired various skills and experiences. She is currently a Platinum Ambassador with the 5x60 project, the only one in the county and a member of the 'Young Ambassadors Wales Steering Group. Carwen participates in various sporting activities such as athletics, netball, tennis and horse-riding who has also achieved a bronze certificate in Surfing. She has played hockey for the School and the County for six years and is currently the Captain of the School's Hockey Team and is a valuable member of Llanybydder Hockey Club. She's a keen rugby player and a member of the Carmarthen Quins Girls Rugby Club and a member of the Scarlets Area Squad for Girls Under 18.Carwen is a very active Young Farmer, having undertaken the role of secretary in the past and currently volunteers to take Meals on Wheels to the elderly of the area.She is also an excellent poet and won this year's School Eisteddfod Chair for writing a poem.A very able and talented pupil who would be an ideal individual to represent the school and community.
