Carolyn and I play for the Aberdeen roller derby team, the Granite City Roller Girls. Aside from the fact that she is an amazing skater and I'm very jealous, her dedication to the sport not only to better herself but forward the team astounds me.
She's always watching games on YouTube, pouring over the fine details of the other teams to learn their technique, and watching the other players to help perfect her skating style. She's regularly voted as our team captain for games, as we all know she has the best knowledge and will try her hardest to ensure we head for victory.
She's recently been chosen to represent Scotland at the Roller Derby World Cup in Toronto this year, only 20 skaters from around Scotland were picked, and she was the only one who made the final team from Granite City.
I'm hopeless at writing these things, but Carolyn is an inspiring player and a really brilliant friend and I hope she gets the chance to carry the torch.
