Carol's nomination story

Carol Highton lost her son Brian Shields in 2005 at the hands of a loan shark who has now been convicted of Illegal Money Lending and is serving a custodial prison sentence.Carol is still suffering from the loss of her beloved son and her life will never be the same again. In Brians memory Carol has set up The Brian Sheilds Trust, a charitable organisation to help victims of crime and loan sharks across the UK.Many loan shark victims are suffering in silence and are too scared to seek help as are fearful of the repercussions from the loan shark. The Brian Shields Trust is there to help the most vulnerable people in our communities.Carol can be contacted on a 24 hour basis through her website allowing victims of crime to offload their problems onto Carol who then works with the relevant authorities on their behalf.A fantastic, invaluable community service deserving recognition.
