Carl is 23 and living with the muscle-wasting condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He comes from a sports mad family and his grandfather was Fred Tilson Snr who scored the winning goal for Manchester City in the FA Cup final in 1934. Carl started working with the charity Action Duchenne several years ago, after becoming very ill, and has raised more than around £100,000 for the charity. He decided to make the most of his time left, and works tirelessly to raise the profile of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Last year he was voted Mancunian of the Year, beating celebrities like Ryan Giggs and Gary Barlow. He uses an electric wheelchair and has to be fed through a tube, and needs a ventilator and heart monitoring equipment while he sleeps. Carl would be so proud to be able to carry the Olympic Torch; please let him realise his goal. 'I'm 24, not 23'.
