Millie Backhouse

Millie is a volunteer coach at KEEN London, the only charity in London which provides free one-to-one sports and recreational activities for children and young adults with special needs. KEEN's weekly sessions can only happen thanks to the commitment of our volunteers and Millie attends every time she can - some weeks leading a session as a whole, other weeks providing one-to-one support for our 'athletes' with very demanding disabilities. She has extended her commitment to working with some children outside of the KEEN sessions, providing respite care and support for families. Additionally, she actively recruits new volunteers and fundraises in her spare time. Millie is a great example of an 'unsung hero', never putting herself in the spotlight but always giving her all. She is adored by the children who attend KEEN and respected by the volunteers - an amazing advocate for our work.
