Calum's nomination story

Calum is a Sports Development Officer who has done the job for 20 years. He has introduced so many children to sport and physical activity and has set a number of children on thier way to international competition from a very small rural area. Calum does not go the extra mile. He goes the extra 10 miles and does so much for the children in this rurl part of Scotland. He is so approachable and all the parents of children describe him a perfect role model for their children and somebody to aspire to. There is a Beyond Sport Website with comments from teachers, police, parents, children, MP's, doctors etc that can be read at: - http://www.beyondsport.org/the-awards/entries/view.php?Id=949

The information on this website will go a very, very long way to say why Calum should be recognised as a torch bearer and the amount of hard unslefish work he puts in to get children and people with disabilities into sport. Calum does get paid for his job but has been heard to say on numerous occasions he is he luckiest person to be able to do this and would happily do it for the love of it. He is such an inspiration in this small rural area who shuns the spotlight but if anybody deserved the recognition then Calum is that person.
