Caitlin is 15 years old from Darwen, Lancashire. She was named the Lancashire High Sheriff's Young Citizen of the Year 2011 for outstanding achievements. Caitlin was born with sensory impairment and serious heart problems and, despite needing her own regular medical treatments, is a carer for her widowed mother Tracy. Caitlin's father Nigel died of lung cancer when she was just 12. Since his death she has fundraised over £10,000 for charities including Cancer Research UK, Marie Curie and East Lancashire Hospice. Caitlin is an inspirational young woman, she has devoted herself to helping others in spite of her own medical problems and the tragic death of her father. She is more than deserving of the honour of bearing the Olympic Torch. This would be a wonderful opportunity for her, and a fitting tribute to all that she has achieved and overcome in the past few years.
