Brian's nomination story

This person is my dad, he has been a professional middle distance runner all my life. When I was 7 my parents split up, it was horrendous on myself and my brother, a 2 year battle began over custody, he made us a promise that he would win Meadowbank 1600mtrs and if he could do that then he would also win the fight for us. In 1975 we watched him win almost every professional meeting on the circuit, using the winnings to pay lawyers fees! Then on the 2nd of Jan 1976 he romped home to win the 1600mts final. He was presented with the trophy and said to us out loudly he would keep his promise. As I child thought he was superman anyway, but later that year he was awarded custody and has proved he is our super hero every single day since. He has gone on to win meadow bank and other races many times. He set up a running club in our area for deprived kids, coached scottish, and British champs as well as speed coached football players from our Edinburgh clubs. He has never been paid a penny for this, he just loves running. 6 Months ago my gran died very suddenly and lately he has seemed sad, I would just like to put that spark back in his life and make him see how much we all love and care for him. If this was put to a vote then hands down hed win as all our community would vote for him, but as it is not you only have my word that the is truly an amazing person, dad, granddad, please consider him to carry the torch.
