After reading an article in my local paper about nominating someone who makes a real difference in their local community, I would like to nominate Brian. He never tires of working to keep the community spirit alive in the tiny village of Sausthorpe, where he has lived and worked all his life. He has seen the shop, church and school close, but through his efforts he has reopened the church, and the village has just celebrated the centenary of the old village hall, for which relatives of the family that built it where tracked down and travelled from London and Denmark to help celebrate. The village events are popular not only with the villagers but also with residents of the surrounding villages. Brian has become a well known and popular man and often holds an 'open to all day' at his own home to help raise funds, displaying steam engines, a hobby of his. He has developed a love of cooking and when he can, he caters for weddings and parties in Sausthorpe Hall. He is always the one in charge of the BBQ! Or is that a man thing anyway?! I understand the torch will travel through Lincoln, which is no more that 40 minutes from his home, and I think it would be a huge honour for Brian to be a participant in something that is not likely to happen again for many years.
