Brian Aspen resides in Bolton with his wife and two children and is a self-employed roofing contractor.
Brian emanates from a wrestling background, his father, Albert Aspen took part in four Olympic Games, two as a competitor and two as a coach.
Brian first started wrestling when he was six years of age and went onto compete internationally at junior and senior level.
In 1974 Brian won the World Schoolboy Championships defeating the legendary Dave Schultz (USA) in the final.
Brian competed in four Commonwealth Games winning one gold and two bronze medals. He competed in the Moscow Olympics in 1980 and in the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984, gaining 7th and 8th place respectively.
During his competitive career Brian was considered the best GB technical wrestler of his era. All his achievements were attained whilst working full-time.
Brian was awarded the MBE in 2001 for his services to wrestling.
