Having been encouraged by Tanni Grey Thompson to attend an athletics come and try it session Brian hasn't looked back, and has gone on to compete on the worlds stage, competing at European and World athletics championships as well as the Beijing Games in 2008. Brian is also medal hopeful for London 2012 and has achieved all of this by overcoming the challenges of being born with spina bifiada and hydrocephalus. Initially competing at wheelchair basketball Brian moved on to wheelchair racing. With his talent being immediately spotted he quickly became part of the GB placing fifth at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi in 2010. Brian has now changed discipline to compete in hand cycling for London 2012 where he is targeting Gold. Continuing to train at his local leisure centre and work part time for St Edmundsbury Borough Council, Brian is an inspirational figure within the local community.
