Brendan has played sport of all kinds since he started school at the age of 4. He represented his primary schoolin football, cricket, cross country running, lacrosse and hockey. Hockey became his passion early on and he turned down offers of training with Manchester United and City football acadamies , preferring hockey. He represented Cheshire, North West, Wales and England at junior levels. in 2010 he was selected in the long list for the Commonwealth Games but he sustained a serious back injury due to prolonged training with U18, U21 and senior squads. He is not yet fully fit after undergoing surgery in April 2011. During the time away from playing he has passed his Level 1 coaching badge and has coached junior boys and girls at Bowdon Hockey Club, schools in Cheshire alongside the Bowdon Club coach and also his school teams. He has gained a lot from sport and given a lot back.
