Babs's nomination story

I have been with Nature Valley for 26 years, started in Production now working in HR Function. I worked voluntarily at Berwick Family Centre for 6 years, serving on the Committee and working with the After School Group. This involved assisting children who had learning/emotional difficulties to help build their confidence. For the Nature Valley Charities Committee, I helped build a bird hide and butterfly garden and took part in a Challenge Day for the Make- A-Wish Foundation. As a group we raised around £5,700. The most recent event a sponsored walk for the local hospice, not realising that my Mum would use this facility when she was diagnosed with cancer. Six years ago I was diagnosed with epilepsy but with support from family, work colleagues and my Manager, I adjusted and served on the committee of Epilepsy Action. In 2010, I suffered a small heart attack but am now living life to the full by taking part in a sponsored zip slide for the Stroke Foundation aiming to raise over £1,000. It would be a great honour and privilege to represent Nature Valley and Great Britain in this fantastic event.
