I am chair of the West Berkshire Downs syndrome group and have two children with downs syndrome one birth and one adopted . As a group we provide drama, speech therapy and fun days out for the children. We promote intergration with main stream children so that the children are accepted by the community that they live in which has huge beneifts to both parties and gains acceptance and understanding of them. The children gain from these activities by gaining self confidence and self esteem as well as developing speech and language skills. My children are a true inspiartion as they will try anything and have no fear so exhilarating and extreme sports they love, Our group last year ran a 'I CAN' campaign which I feel in a nutshell emcompasses what we strive to do for our children and what they prove to us they can do, which is why I would be so proud and honoured to represent them.
