Brenda's nomination story

Brenda is a legend. Perhaps one of the older nominees but I think a fine example of the kind of person you are looking for. She refuses to let age slow her down and continues as she has always done, to give her time and energy to others. Although not a natural athlete, Brenda has participated in many sporting events including local rugby matches, providing first aid as a member of the St John Ambulance Brigade for many years. She is now a Serving Sister of the Order of St John. She has always been active in her local community and this goes beyond her membership of church and horticultural society. Her love of people shines through as both young and old find her approachable and a non-judgemental listening ear. She keeps an eye on the 'old ladies' in her area but is also asked to help out with the church youth group and enjoys the company of the young people as much as they enjoy hers. She rightly sees her gift as being someone that anyone can turn to. I think she embodies the spirit of the olympics as she always puts others first, is prepared to take on a challenge and refuses to be beaten!
