Bhanu Dabhi

I am nominating Bhanu Dabhi because what she has in common with individuals involved in sports is a determination to overcome whatever obstacles are put in her way. Bhanu is registered as blind yet has dedicated her energy and time to others. She chairs the Asian Blind Association group. She has worked with people with mental illness; found funding for specially adapted computers for the Association; supported partially sighted individuals in attending college to study computer skills; inspired others in raising money for community groups; implemented environmental measures receiving the United Nations Environment Programme Certificate; been awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Award for Voluntary Service; and still finds time to work with the RNIB, the Patients' Council and the Young Offenders' Panel. She truly embodies the spirit that is represented by the Olympic Torch. She rocks!!
