Bhanu is a highly qualified neurophysiotherapist specialising in people with Parkinsons (PWP). She is a bundle of energy who lights up any room with her enthusiasm & contagious laughter. Ten years ago Bhanu started up a weekly exercise class for PWP in Sheffield. This has proved so successful lt has now expanded to 4 weekly classes. In 2002 Bhanu arranged with PDS (now Parkinsons UK) to make a video of the exercises. This became very popular nationally & is now available in DVD.
On a personal note, in 2006 I had Deep Brain Surgery at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital Sheffield by Mr Jeremy Rowe. This is done whilst the patient is awake. We arranged that Bhanu could sit & hold my hands during surgery. I have never been so glad to see those beautiful 'Malteser' eyes peering at me above the blue surgical mask. I've even forgiven her for being typically late - she is only human after all! Bhanu does have other interests including singing; stitchwork & shall we say 'debating' - she likes a good, heated discussion now & then. She may be only 5' 2 & half inches (don't ever forget the half) but she packs a powerful punch - verbally of course! Bhanu has raised funds for Parkinsons ranging from the Chicago Marathon, a Halloween fun run in Nottingham to a recent Chatsworth Walk.
Bhanu's latest projects for us are weekly hydrotherapy sessions & also circuit classes - we don't have time to feel sorry for ourselves!
Bhanu is fun, firm & friendly. She is our unextinguishable flame!!
