Beth's nomination story

Bethany has enjoyed sport throughout her life participating in swimming, gymnastics and volleyball.

She has been a member of the South Ayrshire Volleyball club since the age of 12 and has competed in the National League since the age of 14, her team now in the 1st division. While at school she participated twice in the UK school Games as a player for the West of Scotland team. She has also played for the Under19 national team since the age of 14.

Now at university she manages to find time to train and play for both South Ayrshire and Strathclyde University teams as well as studying and working. her involvement in Volleyball also includes taking referee courses to become a Grade 3 referee and this year she was the manager for the East Scotland Girls team at the UK School Games in Sheffield.

While getting great enjoyment out of sport, she also puts in a great deal of her own time to encourage and support others participating and I think she is worthy of the honour of carrying the Olympic Flame.
