Beth's nomination story

Beth is an inspiration to other young people; when you set your mind to do something, anything is possible. When Beth was 13 she swam the English Channel, in an overnight relay, swimming for 3 hours, amongst seaweed, jelly fish, tankers and the unknown. This involved committed training, over a period of 5 months, swimming weekly in Dover Harbour, gradually acclimatising to the cold; beginning with a 5 minute swim, building up to 2 hours. During this time she raised funds by sponsorship, organising raffles, tombola's and school events. By doing so, she raised over £4000 for the local Hospice. After the swim she gave talks to local schools inspiring others to achieve their dreams. .
