Bethan's nomination story

In 2009 Bethan was crutches or in a wheelchair for 5 months. She returned to work as an A&E Consultant still suffering pain. She decided to improve her level of fitness. In the last year she's lost 4 stone and can now run 10k. She'd never run before but followed the NHS Couch to 5k advice. She now cycles regularly. She has motivated family and colleagues to get active. Colleagues are following the Couch to 5k guidance. She's active in hospital initiatives to get staff more active, with the aim of recruiting 2012 staff to take part by the time of the Olympics. Bethan's goal is to run a half marathon in 2012. On 6/10/11 she was awarded a workplace Fitter for Health Foundation Award. She's achieved a lot but she is also determined to motivate others. She knows not everyone will run a marathon, but is a credible ambassador.
