As a nurturing teacher for 16 years in a boy's secondary school she encourages her pupils to realise their potential ,become independent confident young men of character; initiated work experience for groups of boys, taking them to Thailand and India to work with orphans and street children; Her passion for her hobby, photography - the PR in school, unofficial photographer at community events.Bernie is compassionate and practical, demonstrated by the Annual Old Age Pensioner's Christmas Dinner (attended by over 500) thatshe organises and enlists her willing pupils as volunteers.A role model for those who want to embark on a career change having left a good Council Job at the age of 36 to do teaching.By coincidence, her nephew made an award winning film in Belfast in Dec 2011 about the Olympic Flame.
