Ben's nomination story

1/04/2010 Ben was walking to school as normal with his friends when suddenly at the school gates he encountered younger students running and screaming in all directions. Further up the road he saw one of the younger pupils on the floor being attacked by a knifeman. With scarcely a thought for his own safety he launched himself at the assailant hitting him with a rugby tackle and knocking him off the the young girl. He continued to wrestle the knifeman to the ground until staff arrived to help, then Ben alerted the emergency services who scrambled the air ambulance. He received commendation from senior police officers who were of the opinion that his actions that day saved the young girls life. In the aftermath of the incident Ben conducted himself with great humility and dignity. We believe he deserves recognition for his act of unselfish bravery. He truly represents the olympic ideals of selflessness, courage and justice. Carrying the olympic torch would show the country that there are young people out there who are prepared to stand up and to be counted rather than being self centred. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/8424435/Boy-tells-how-he-helped-save-stabbed-schoolgirl-Chloe-West.html http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/top-stories/2011/04/02/hero-lad-saves-life-of-schoolgirl-stabbed-outside-school-gates-115875-23032581/ https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ben-Hudson-is-a-true-hero/151609408237317
