Benjamin is a true ambassador for sport and cricket in particular, dedicating his spare time volunteering to coach cricket within Gosport and assisting Hampshire Visually Impaired. His enthusiasm is contagious and his patience is beyond his years, giving time and consideration to all. Benjamin believes everyone should have opportunities to take part, no matter their age or ability. He works tirelessly promoting Gosport Borough Cricket club at schools, Youth Festivals, SPAA events and Hampshire cricket. He provides net sessions during the summer for anyone who wishes to attend. He is always the first point of call for younger club members and became a committee member at 14, providing a voice for the youth and information and help to all, including parents. He helps to prepare the clubhouse & pitch for home games, & ensures kit is available for all coaching sessions, as well as running coaching for U13, U15 young adults and ladies section. He is the youngest club member to achieve both coaching at level 1 and level 2. When unable to play due to glandular fever, he attended fixtures supporting, umpiring or scoring. All this while in full time education. Awards in 2009 included Hants & IOW Young Volunteer of the year, SSP service for Volunteering & Local Authority Volunteer. He truly deserves the opportunity to carry the Olympic torch in recognition for his work within cricket. He is an inspiration and excellent role model to youth of Gosport trusted and respected.
