Ben's nomination story

Ben is an inspirational person. He was born a normal child but has since suffered cardiac arrest 5 times and has as a result been left with cerebral palsy and is in a wheel chair with full time care. He is an incredibly clever and mature person who has learnt to live with the condition and accepts that the only way to live is just to get on with it and be as normal as possible.

Ben attends Leeds Trinity University College where he interacts with staff and students while studying towards a sports journalism degree where his results are extremley good considering the effort it takes him to record notes as he is physically unable to move.

He goes out of his way to be able to do every day tasks which can be incredibly hard for him and he is actively involved in voluntary journalism for a local football team, and has a passion for all sports. He has done work for channel 4 and goes above and beyond to do all that he can to better his course and skills.

Ben is an inspiration because of his good nature and willing to help everyone with everthing even if it is not physically possible for him.

He has had many operations, including major surgery on his back to enable him to sit in his wheelchair better and having the oppertunity to be involved in carrying the flag would be just a small way of giving something incredable back to him.

He has been through so much and a break like this and something to look forward to would be just what he needs.
